I am creating a visual record of objects that have lost their original purpose. By observing selected objects over time, I look at the moments when they cease to be what they once were, becoming part of the ongoing cycle of matter.

Through photography, I draw discarded objects out of their everyday context, bringing them into renewed visibility. They become subjects of close observation, as well as material traces of the reality in which they came into being and existed.

I work with reclaimed materials, everyday waste and organic remains, exposing them on vintage silver gelatin paper and X-ray film. I leave selected objects on my balcony for days, sometimes weeks, observing their responses to light, weather and temperature. The surroundings become part of the process, and time contributes to the making of the image. Each object changes differently. Some gradually lose their form and recognisability, while others remain almost unchanged. I am interested in both the transformation and the persistence of matter.

The object and its photographic record undergo parallel processes. While the object changes under the influence of its surroundings, the image preserves a trace of its presence and transformations. It becomes a trace of passing time and a material record of the object’s existence. I am now extending these observations into sound, exploring ways of recording the relationship between matter, its transformations and its surroundings.

Looking closely at discarded things, I question the boundaries of their existence. Does an object come to an end when it loses its function and is thrown away, or only when it changes form and becomes unrecognisable? Or does matter persist, regardless of the meanings and purposes we assign to it?

Prowadzę wizualny zapis przedmiotów, które utraciły swoje pierwotne przeznaczenie. Obserwując wybrane obiekty w czasie, przyglądam się momentom, w których przestają być tym, czym były, stając się częścią nieustannego obiegu materii.

Poprzez fotograficzną rejestrację wydobywam odrzucone przedmioty z codziennego kontekstu, nadając im nową widzialność. Stają się przedmiotem uważnej obserwacji, a zarazem materialnym śladem rzeczywistości, w której powstały i funkcjonowały.

Wykorzystuję odzyskane materiały, odpady codziennego użytku i pozostałości organiczne, które naświetlam na starych papierach srebrowych i błonach RTG. Wybrane obiekty pozostawiam na balkonie na wiele dni, a niekiedy tygodni, obserwując ich reakcje na światło, pogodę i temperaturę. Otoczenie staje się częścią procesu, a czas współtworzy obraz. Każdy obiekt zmienia się inaczej. Niektóre stopniowo tracą formę i rozpoznawalność, inne pozostają niemal niezmienione. Interesuje mnie zarówno przemiana materii, jak i jej trwałość.

Przedmiot i jego fotograficzny zapis podlegają równoległym procesom. Podczas gdy obiekt zmienia się pod wpływem otoczenia, obraz utrwala ślad jego obecności i przemian. Staje się świadectwem upływającego czasu i materialnym zapisem jego istnienia. Obecnie poszerzam te obserwacje o dźwięk, badając możliwości rejestrowania relacji między materią, jej przemianami a otoczeniem.

Przyglądając się odrzuconym rzeczom, pytam o granice ich istnienia. Czy koniec następuje wtedy, gdy przedmiot traci swoją funkcję i zostaje wyrzucony, czy dopiero wtedy, gdy zmienia formę i przestaje być rozpoznawalny? A może materia nieustannie trwa, niezależnie od znaczeń i przeznaczeń, które jej nadajemy?
